Volunteer work matters!

Local community members and Sailors from Commander, Submarine Squadron Fifteen, Naval Hospital Guam, USS Frank Cable (AS 40), NMC PAC EAD Unit Guam, and US Naval Base Guam recently received letters of recognition from the Guam Congress for their work during the 25th annual International Coastal Cleanup.

Awards were presented by Senator Kelly G. Marsh-Taitano and Marilyn Guerrero from the Guam Coastal Management Program.

More than 4,000 people from around the island volunteered for the event that took place Sept. 21. Volunteers cleaned up more than 92,000 pounds of trash.

"We hope that more and more people will continue to roll up their sleeves for Guam," said Marsh.
