Ethics of the Real Estate Profession

Ethics of the Real Estate Profession

On July 29, 1913, the Code of Ethics was approved by the Board of Directors and former President Edward Sanderson Judd. One of the first professional doctrines of its kind in the United States, the Code laid the groundwork for the professionalization and organization of the field. For 106 years, the Code has united REALTORS® by serving as the "golden thread" linking members of the profession. A living document, the Code of Ethics is evaluated and updated annually. The original Code of Ethics, scans of which are seen here, can be found in the NAR Library & Archives.
