August 14, 2020 President's Message

Hafa Adai,

On behalf of the Guam Association of REALTORS® I want to first offer our thoughts and prayers for a full recovery to Governor Lou Leon Guerrero, Lt. Governor Joshua Tenorio and all those who have been infected with the coronavirus.

As we navigate through this unprecedented time, the Guam Association of REALTORS® continues to stand ready to provide the community with the essential need for housing.  REALTORS® are ready to work safely and responsibly in meeting the needs for housing and homeownership.

Our members have gone through rigorous COVID-19 training that we have made mandatory so we can keep our clients, ourselves and the public as safe as possible.  We have established more extensive guidelines and rules for responsible practices which are outlined below:

1.  GAR Property Entry Rules:  This flyer is mandated for all members to place at listings to remind anyone entering to wear masks, socially distance, and sets the maximum number of individuals at each showing, and steps to sanitize before and after the showing appointments.  We have also produced a short video to illustrate these rules which can be found on our website and our social media.

2.  GAR Transaction Forms - GAR has established documents that are to accompany lease forms, purchase agreements and listing agreements.  These forms advise the risk of the virus in relation to the property listed and terms that may need to be considered due to the effects of the pandemic.

3.  Sample preparedness plan for circumstances related to COVID-19 - in the event of.a rise in COVID-19 cases, a preparedness plan was created by the National Association of REALTORS® and has been adopted locally.

The GAR Leadership has worked tirelessly staying up to date on the pandemic so we can adjust accordingly and communicate these changes to our membership and the public.  Our association uses cutting edge technology to get the word out as quickly and effectively as possible.

As our island community continues to work our way through this historic time, we remind ourselves that we are all in this together.  We are prepared to continue working safely and responsibly.  But most of all, because housing is essential, we need to be essential.

Again on behalf of all the members of the Guam Association of REALTORS®, please stay safe, practice social distancing and follow all safety guidelines as published.

 God bless you all.

 Sincerely,

Clare Delgado
2020 President, Guam Association of REALTORS®
